Sell your company's data in Illinois: who's buying, what it pays, what Illinois law says

Short answer: every buyer we track pays Illinois companies, the ranges they publish run from $100,000 to several million for a company with 30 or more people and a few years of records, and the Briggs Analytics estimate for a 50-person Illinois company with ten years of records in the industries below runs $190,000 to $560,000. Illinois privacy law leaves internal operating records to the contract. Owners pay nothing to find out. See what your Illinois company's data could be worth.

Who buys Illinois company data

The buyers are AI data companies and the brokers that feed them. Every one we track licenses from companies anywhere in the United States, and most want a team based here. None of them need you to be in a particular city. What they need is years of records your company owns: email, chat, tickets, jobs, invoices, drawings, the back-and-forth around every decision. Every buyer, compared.

Illinois companies should check whether any system in scope stores biometric identifiers before an inventory goes to a buyer. Everything else follows the general rule.

What Illinois law says

Biometric Information Privacy Act (biometrics only). Illinois has no comprehensive consumer privacy law as of October 2026, but BIPA strictly governs biometric data (fingerprints, face scans, voiceprints). Timeclock and badge systems that store biometrics stay out of any license.

What that means in practice: the agreement does the work. Which categories are out, how identifying fields are removed, and what the buyer can do downstream. Customer and employee personal data stays out of every deal we see, whatever the state. Ask your lawyer. What to ask for in the agreement.

Briggs Analytics is not a law firm and never tells you whether you have the right to license your records. The buyer's agreement and your lawyer do.

What to do first

  1. Get the estimate. It takes about a minute, asks for no files, and shows which buyers fit a Illinois company of your size and age.
  2. Fill in the data inventory: every system, the years you can export, how much is there.
  3. Decide what is out before anyone asks: customer and employee personal data, client-owned files, anything restricted.
  4. Get more than one number before you sign anything. An exclusive license can only be sold once.

In short

  • Every buyer we track pays Illinois companies. Published ranges run $100K to several million for 30+ people with years of records.
  • Briggs Analytics estimate for a 50-person Illinois company with ten years of records: $190,000 to $560,000, by industry.
  • Illinois law leaves internal operating records to the contract. Your lawyer reads it.

Does Illinois privacy law stop a data license?
